What would a good list of behavioral interview questions to ask those who are applying for a Social Service Specialist or Child Welfare Case Worker position? I know these positions require a special ability to maintain calmness in any type of situation, but I'm stumped on what types of questions to ask the applicants. Help or references please??
Confrontation will be a strong part of their challenges. How would they manage to maintain a professional demeanor under suggested circumstances.
Interesting, and inventive, means to inquire about delicate subjects with parents, such as private family matters of finance, sex, communications between parents and children.
Probing/investigative abilities to uncover hidden problems that don't readily appear to those too close to a situation, such as an uncle too interested in his young niece, an introverted son with a greater than normal interest in watching people.
I'd suggest a "What if..." questionaire with the above three elements covered in several different situations, single mother, single dad, foster parent, dysfunctional nuclear family.
Use your imagination and come up with some interesting scenerios to make the applicants think.
