What online auction sites are the highest rated aside from ebay?
Hi timespacette,
I used the website http://auctions.nettop20.com/ to compile the
highest rated. However, some of the sites were unavailable so I
omitted them. I then used this site to obtain the rest in random
order. http://www.makemoneywithonlineauctions.com/auctions/
My apologies if I misunderstood that you wanted them ranked in order
from highest to lowest.
Best wishes,
Rainbow
"Still, there is opportunity out there. In fact, I know of one auction

Your comment seems disingenuous. First, I don't know how a site that
is "much smaller than ebay" could "generate similar sales to ebay".
Second, what is the point of keeping an auction site a "secret from
other sellers for as long as possible" when the more traffic it gets,
the more transactions will take place. Third, this has a tone about it
that implies "I've got it but you can't have it" Or am I misreading
something here?
and your point is . . . . ?
I don't know why I'm following up on this silly line of questioning.
You can take my comments for what you want. I did a bit more in my
comments than to say "I know something you don't know, nah nah nah".
I would say the main thrust of my overall post is that there is
opportunity out there if you look but it's not easy to find.
With regards to your specific points:
"First, I don't know how a site that
is "much smaller than ebay" could "generate similar sales to ebay". "
I did not claim the site has a multi-billion dollar marketplace
similar to ebay. My discussion was in the context of how the sites
apply to sellers. There is a healthy match between sellers and buyers
so the sell-through rate is still very high -- based on what I can
tell, it's probably a better rate than on ebay.
"Second, what is the point of keeping an auction site a "secret from
other sellers for as long as possible" when the more traffic it gets,
the more transactions will take place. "
This makes no sense. Sellers don't want competition. I suppose that
if Dell were doing good business on this site it'd want to spread the
word to Compaq and HP?
"Third, this has a tone about it
that implies "I've got it but you can't have it""
I responded to this already.
I don't understand why you're getting so worked up about my comments.

Daniel
should I assume that these are listed in order of highest ranking?
How are they ranked?

thank you; I'll pursue it . . .
Trixiecracker.com is launching an online marketplace that is better
than eBay and Amaozn. Check it out - www.trixiecracker.com.
They're having a promotional prelaunch registration to save on fees.
hey i also found what looks like it may be a decent site later on
www.vendea.com
That's a very good list there rainbow.
I'm an online seller on many of those sites already and let me just
make a couple comments from a seller's perspective.
Most of the sites have so little demand that it's not even worth one's
time to try to sell on them. It's not too much of a stretch to say
ebay is the only game in town.
Amazon auctions, for example, might have 7 items sold out of 6,000.
Ebay, on the other hand, consistently has a 30-40% sell-through rate.
Of course, amazon and most of these sites are free whereas ebay really
squeezes the money out of you.
Still, there is opportunity out there. In fact, I know of one auction
site which, while somewhat inaccessible and MUCH smaller than ebay,
actually might generate similar sales to ebay.
Luckily, since I'd prefer to keep that site a secret from other
sellers for as long as possible, the answerer of this question did not
mention it :).

"and your point is . . . . ?"
I don't know what this is supposed to mean.
I was just adding some comments about the alternatives to ebay from
someone with a fair amount of experience. My comments aren't
particularly hard to understand.
